This was my wife's and my eighth visit to Desert Diamond Arena at Westgate. What a fantastic mall and multi-purpose venue! We had tickets in Section 121, Row E, Seats 5 & 6, which were excellent! The night was kicked off by Sweet Talk, a band I had never heard before, but I will never forget. In fact, I am definitely going to look them up. What powerful, exquisite vocals matched only by their superp musicianship! According to sweettalkmusic.com.au: "There’s something about Sweet Talk that doesn’t ask for your attention so much as demand it. Hailing from Melbourne, carrying the swagger of Southern rock and the storytelling heart of Americana, but bent through their own lens, one that lets the red dust and late-night grit of Australia seep into every note. They don’t imitate; they translate. And in that translation, they’ve found a voice entirely their own." I could not agree more! They are the bomb! Sweet Talk was followed by Dylan Gossett. I didn't think I knew of Dylan until I heard him sing his songs. According to Wikipedia: "Dylan Gossett (born March 11, 1999) is an American country singer-songwriter from Austin, Texas. He has released two studio EPs and an album. He is signed to Big Loud Texas/Mercury Records and has a global publishing deal with Universal Music Group Nashville. His second self-released single, "Coal", made the Billboard Hot 100. Gossett released his debut album, Westward, on July 18, 2025...Gossett's music has been compared to Zach Bryan and Eric Church." I certainly agree! His band is Traditional Country. He plays the guitar and harmonica and he has a fiddle and a banjo player. He and his band play and sing with heart. I learned about The Red Clay Strays from my friend Mark who lives in Idaho. He introduced me to them a few months ago, and I began listening to them right away. I am very impressed with their deep, sobering, heartfelt lyrics about the torment of struggle, which is something everyone faces. I must say though, there is no comparison to seeing them live. Wow! I am undone! According to redclaystrays.com: "Hailing from Mobile, Alabama, The Red Clay Strays – Brandon Coleman (lead vocals, guitar), Drew Nix (guitar and vocals), Zach Rishel (guitar), Andrew Bishop (bass), John Hall (drums), bonded as young, working-class men raised on Lynyrd Skynyrd riffs. Anchored by Coleman, whose voice channels country gold and old-school rock ‘n’ roll soul, the Strays cut their teeth with gigs on sticky barroom floors. After meeting while touring with Elle King in 2023, Sevans Henderson, an Oklahoma native, joined the band on the road to play keys in February 2024. With a sound straddling fiery Southern rock riffs, tender-hearted soul music, and tried-and-true country crooning, the Strays rose from backroad Gulf Coast gigs to become one of the most sought-after acts in country and rock circles. The band self-released their debut album, Moment of Truth, in 2022, featuring a handful of what quickly became staple songs for the band: “Stone’s Throw,” “Do Me Wrong,” and “Wondering Why,” among others." The Red Clay Strays are out of this world! It is one of the best bands I have ever heard. They are like 1950s vintage Elvis. Brandon Coleman is magnificent! He is a cross between Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Ray Charles, oh, and the Energizer Bunny.
