I love violin concertos, and this one was really good! Thank you, Phoenix Symphony, for donating tickets for veterans like me to attend! The pre-show “Friday Coffee Classics” chat was informative with background information that helped bring meaning to the performance. Thank you for the concert introduction by two orchestra members, one that was very new to the organization and the other with many years’ experience with the Phoenix Symphony. I appreciated the after-show Q&A with soloist Francesca Dego and conductor José Luis Gómez, where I learned stories of their careers firsthand, starting as music students and becoming talented professional musicians. Phoenix is very fortunate to have a first-class professional symphony orchestra and is able to attract excellent visiting soloists like violinist Francesca Dego.
