Come From Away has become one of our favorite musicals. It focuses on the generosity of residents of Gander Newfoundland and surrounding communities to the 7000 passengers and crew who were diverted to this remote location on September 11, 2001. The musical does not dwell on the tragedy taking place in New York City. However, there is one scene where the actors are quietly staring at imaginary TV screens ... then they all gasped. I gasped too because I knew exactly what they were looking at. I remember being at work that day with a group of us just staring at the TV. When the first tower collapsed, we all gasped. Come From Away shows the humanity and kindness of people that can come out of a tragedy. Thank you Phoenix Theatre for offering me and my family tickets to this inspiring musical. It was made better being able to watch it in the beautiful new Stacie J. and Richard J. Stephenson Theatre.
