American Conservatory Theater
I attended “A Whynot Christmas Carol”, a new version of the Dickens holiday classic, written by playwright Craig Lewis on Wednesday November 27th. What an incredibly exciting introduction to the holiday season! When Director Pam MacKinnon came out to address the audience, she let us know we were just the second audience to ever experience this play. Pretty amazing! I do love theater, especially new works, but my extremely limited, fixed income has made theater-going an impossible luxury. Even discounted prices are often beyond my means. But thanks to the American Conservatory Theater I was able to experience a wonderful night out. While in hight school, I worked as an usher at the Pittsburgh Playhouse during I attended “A Whynot Christmas Carol”, a new version of the Dickens holiday classic, written by playwright Craig Lewis on Wednesday November 27th. But the American Conservatory Theater, only 6 blocks down Lower Nob Hill from me, gave me a wonderful night out. While in high school, I worked as an usher at the Pittsburgh Playhouse during the mid-1960's when ACT was first founded in Pittsburgh, PA, so this experience nearly 60 years later was especially poignant for me. (Note: I’d forgotten my standard Vet Tix sign, so I hope including this pic of me in the lobby of The Toni Rembe Theater displaying “Vet Tix” on one of the theater’s special snow flake decorations will suffice.
