The Phoenix Symphony
I have known Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana," as a fascinating choral work for many years. To provide perspective, I have laser disc and compact disc recordings of "Carmina Burana." This Phoenix Symphony production was a phenomenal presentation of this masterpiece; the immediate and enthusiastic standing ovation, at the conclusion, was well- deserved by all who occupied the stage! And, the other presentation, of Adam Schoenberg's "Picture Studies," the beautifully expressive contemporary orchestral work, was impressive on its own. Mr Schoenberg's individual movements musically captured the beauty of the selected art works, including the chaos depicted in Miro's, "Wonen at Sunrise," and the apparent random movement of the 4 individuals walking in and around an intersection, in "Repitition." Thank you, Phoenix Symphony, for an exciting evening of music. Once again, Tito Munoz, as Conductor, displayed his mastery of the baton, in leading the Orchestra, the soloists, the Phoenix Symphony Chorus and the Phoenix Boys Choir in this season-opening production. An evening not to be forgotten. Thank you, again, Phoenix Symphony.
