Arizona State Fair
Thanks for the good intentions on this event, however, it was a fiasco. First - parking Here are the parking instructions per the AZ State Fair Website https://azstatefair.com/directions-parking/ As you can see it states that parking is in several lots and for various prices plus they have a VIP option that can be bought online. There is no guarantee of a handicap spot for a combat service connected disabled veteran, like myself, online so I opted to go there and buy parking once there. When I got there they closed down all of the lots and told me the only way to park was to prepay online (obviously different than the website stated) and all of the prepaid parking passes were already sold out by then so I couldn't do that option even if I tried. I told them I needed handicap parking and I was there for the vet tix deal and they said it didn't matter and I couldn't park there without buying it online (which I couldn't anymore for that day anyways). This was disheartening, to say the least. I finally found a place to park on someone's front lawn (for a few, mind you) and had to walk a long way to the entrance. Second - entrance I was told upon entry that I was only allowed to use two of the four passed I requested from vet tix. They made me buy more passes at the front gate - I didn't understand that at all and was very upset about it. Coupled with the fact that the lady at the front gate gave me a hard time with trying to buy the passes and was extremely rude about it all. She then told me I can complain to the State of Arizona if I didn't like what they were saying. I told her I think I'm supposed to contact vet tix and she said that won't help you and I still won't let you use the tickets even if you do. So after not being able to get a medically necessary handicap parking spot and having to buy 2 additional tickets (when I already had them from vet tix but they just wouldn't let me use them) and being yelled at by the ticket lady we finally got in, only to then be harassed by the ticket lady again because she called the police (unbeknownst to me) over to yell at me for being upset at her and how she handled the situation in not letting me use the tickets from vet tix. Now the police are in my face and she's yelling at me right in the front of the fair and I'm trying to explain to the police officers what happened and how she was rude and made me pay for tickets that I already had and, of course, the police take HER SIDE because she worked there. I hope you can see somehow on your end that there are two unused tickets that I requested from vet tix still on my account and that will let you know that I'm telling the truth here and that I was harassed by the police and the front ticket lady for no reason whatsoever... All after having to walk a mile just to get in. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE fix these parking and ticketing issues for next year... I would recommend including a parking pass (or options to buy them) on vet tix or making some note about how not to trust the fair website when it comes to that. As for me having to buy extra tickets, when I already had them, I don't even know what to say about that except I guess they were having a bad day and decided to take it out on me. Needless to say, this was a horrible event for this service connected veteran and I think I would have been treated better if I was still back in Iraq.
