Dear University of California Berkeley Golden Bears (Cal) Team, I hope you're doing well despite the narrow miss against Auburn. First and foremost, I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation for the tickets you generously donated. Witnessing the raw passion and determination on the field at the California Memorial Stadium was an indescribable experience. As a disabled veteran, I've seen firsthand the importance of resilience, teamwork, and determination. Watching the Bears on the field, especially your defense, reminded me of those values I held close during my service. Four turnovers forced and the relentless pursuit of Auburn's quarterback – it was evident that the spirit of the Bears was unyielding, reminiscent of soldiers in a tough battle. I'm filled with immense pride knowing that my son is now a freshman at Cal. I can only hope he imbibes the same spirit, tenacity, and determination I witnessed on the field during that thrilling home opener. Despite the result, the journey and the lessons learned will shape the future games and, more importantly, each player's character. Coach Justin Wilcox's words resonated deeply, highlighting the importance of collective efforts in a team game. Sam Jackson's spark and Kaleb Elarms-Orr's career night are testaments to the quality and talent present in the Golden Bears. Your defense's ability to force turnovers and that impressive performance since the 2018 Cheez-It Bowl against TCU must be mentioned. The fire and grit you all displayed on the field were commendable, and I'm confident that future games will see even more of this unyielding spirit. In life, as in football, there will be missed opportunities, but how we rally back and strive for excellence defines us. The Bears indeed outperformed, and I have every ounce of faith that the lessons from the game against Auburn will lead to triumphant moments in the future. Once again, thank you for the tickets and for giving me an unforgettable evening of top-tier football.
