In 2006 I prepared to Deploy to Afghanistan as an Embedded Tactical Trainer (ETT) with an Afghan Infantry Company in the Tora Bora AO. My 3 year old son loved football, he wanted to play but he was a little guy and scared. The week before I left we watched the movie "Rudy", it inspired him, he had a rough few years playing football and since I have been Deployed just about 90% of the time since, I have not been there to help him. Every time we talked on Skype while I was deployed I would tell him we would go to Notre Dame when I get back. Last year, I retired after 30 yrs of service. Vet Tickets help me fulfill a promise I made to my son by attending a Notre Dame football game together. The next day we attended Mass at the Cathedral, toured the campus, ate at the South Dinning Hall and sat with a table full of freshman and they freely and openly discussed the activities they did to get accepted to ND, What life was like at the school and how much studying is required so far. My son is now very motivated and focused entering HS hoping to someday be accepted to Notre Dame. A very emotional time since I have close friends that were KIA and will not get to spend time with their sons-thus unfulfilled promises they made before they deployed. I can't THANK the University of Notre Dame enough for supporting the Military and Veterans which allowed this quality experience with my son! (Matthew) Thank you Vet Tix and the University of Notre Dame! Keith
