Generous Donors, Thank you for making a dream since childhood come true. I grew up in California but would spend weeks at my great grandma's farm in Kinta, Oklahoma. In 1980 while on a visit when I was just shy of 10 years old, my great grandma (Mama Lula as we called her) made me promise that when I was old enough and graduated high school, I would move to Oklahoma, live with her, and go to the local community college. After 2 years I would transfer to the University of Oklahoma and then we could go to all of the OU football games together and I would be an official Sooner. She was my best friend and It sounded like the greatest in the whole world! Not to make this story take a sad turn, but Mama Lula passed away the following summer. Our bond was deep though and I've carried those dreams with me through adulthood. When I decided to complete my bachelors degree in my early forties, I learned that Oklahoma had an online program and I was able to officially enroll as an Oklahoma Sooner, graduating in 2012. I knew she was with me when I walked across the stage to receive my diploma. The dream of going to an Oklahoma football game has still burned strong for all of these years. As she has always been, I knew she was with me yesterday as we cheered our boys on in West Virginia. I even brought a little bit of Lona Valley soil from her farm. She is and will always be the greatest person to have ever touched my life. These words don't seem to cover the gratitude I feel in my heart. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!
