Veterans are casually (and sincerely) thanked all the time for their service. Most of us served as volunteers and feel awkward when people thank us. The attached picture shows me and two daughters, one of which is a Navy Veteran like myself. The younger daughter will always remember a football game on Thanksgiving with her veteran family and for that I am truly grateful to the University of Texas Athletics and individual donors. Believe me when I, and other veterans, say, with utmost sincerity, thank you - from the bottom of my heart. In a world of bad news, yours was a wonderful gift that gave special meaning to this Thanksgiving.
