This was an event of a lifetime for me!! I was born in New Orleans, played the trumpet, and was born the year Herbie Hancock first started performing professionally. His signature song, Watermelon Me, debuted in 1962 on his debut album, Takin' Off, and hit the Billboard Hot 100 charts the following year, 1963 - the year I was born. I have followed Mr. Hancock's artful, funky, and profoundly creative style since I was a teen. As an Air Force veteran, traveling the world, I was summarily impressed with the world-wide renown of Herbie Hancock himself, and his influence over 60 years on SO MANY jazz performers! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, to Mr. Hancock for an absolutely new, creative show ... with new adaptations of long-time favorites. Classic Herbie-!- The Hard Rock in Rockford, IL, was an excellent setting for Yvonne and me. THANK YOU, THANK YOU to the donors for making this 'bucket list' item a reality for this simple man from the Midwest whose honor it was to serve.

Thanks to Hard Rock for treating my wife and I to an evening with the legendary Herbie Hancock. It was our first visit to the beautiful Rockford Casino.
