Dear Portland Opera Team, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for the generous donation of tickets to Falstaff on May 16. It was, without exaggeration, the most enjoyable opera experience I’ve had in over 50 years—since the days I was an active-duty submarine sailor receiving USO tickets to performances at the Kennedy Center in D.C. and the Met at Lincoln Center in New York. My friends and I were truly amazed by the quality of last night’s performance. From the brilliant cast and stunning costumes to the creative use of photography in the set transitions and the impeccable acoustics—it was a feast for the senses and a joy for the soul. You’ve rekindled a love of opera that’s been tucked away far too long. We would be absolutely delighted to make the trip up from Eugene for future performances. (Hint: La Bohème, anyone?)
