What a road trip! About 7 hours of travel to see Halsey but it was worth it! A massive thank you to Live Nation and Vet Tix for making this possible.

What a fantastic time we had at the Halsey - Love and Power Concert @XfinityCenter Other than having seen a performance of hers on tv or watching some of her past concert footage, it was our first time catching her live and this lady belted out some tunes and put on a really entertaining show. This was an ear-splitting rock concert to which I've been told, is a noticeable difference from her past performances. Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails produced her latest album which might attribute to why her concert tours are so amped-up now with heavy industrial influences. This show totes about a 25 song setlist and during her 1st set break, @iamhalsey spoke briefly about how her bad-ass fiestiness comes from a combination of her Dad being from right here in our backyards in Quincy, MA and her Mom being from New Jersey. While performing "Be Kind," a signature move of hers to draw on a giant canvas was pretty awe-inspiring to see. The 1st time I saw Halsey do something similar was on SNL where she painted on her knees, upside-down on top of a large canvas while performing "Eastside". After finishing & signing her latest creation, she talked about "being authentic" and how the meaning of those very words have skewed for her throughout the years but whenever she draws on that canvas during a performance, it's a reflection of a moment that she has shared with you and that has always been constant. With about a handful of songs left on the set list, while performing "Nightmare," video footage of protests for reproductive-rights played in the background and the crowd took their loudness and went absolutely full tilt. It was the only time during the show that waded into politics. Approaching 2 hours into the show, performances of "Without Me" and "I Am Not a Woman, I'm a God" capped off the night. IMO, this was sort of a story-telling, retrospective exhibition of Halsey's Music Style changes, Past Relationships, Activism Support and her recent foray into Motherhood. This old man is a little behind the times so Emily inflicted some "Ok Boomer" moments on me when she schooled me about the supporting acts @PinkPantheress, a singer, songwriter who went viral after posting several songs on TikTok and Indie Rock artist Beabadoobee (@radvxz) who reminded me of Mazzy Star, Poe, Sneaker Pimps, Veruca Salt and even Sonic Youth. To my surprise, my son even said it was his favorite concert by far. Not knowing what to expect going in, I've gotta say that I really enjoyed the show especially while spending time attending it with the kids and that's what it's really all about! Many Thanks to Live Nation and the Veteran Tickets Foundation for providing tickets and making it a memorable night. #Halsey #LoveandPowerTour #NIN #Beabadoobee #PinkPantheress #LiveNation #VetTix #XfinityCenter
