From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for a lovely time at the symphony. My girl and I enjoyed a lovely time, and the music was sublime. It was my first time at Davies Hall to hear a performance, and the acoustics were astounding. I’m so grateful for your generosity. Sincerely, Jay M. Rivera

Extremely nice performance of this rarely performed piece. Impressed with the stamina of Igor Levit, and really enjoyed the "reveal" of the chorus behind the scrim at the end of the performance. Thanks again to the San Francisco Symphony for an enjoyable afternoon.

Subject: Heartfelt Gratitude for an Unforgettable Experience Dear San Francisco Symphony Team, I hope this message finds you well. As a disabled veteran, I have had my share of challenges and trials, but music has always been a refuge for me, a space of solace and inspiration. The gift of the tickets for the June 25th, 2023, performance was a gesture of generosity and a significant reminder of life's beauty. The performance by the Artist-in-residence, Igor Levit, under the accomplished baton of Esa-Pekka Salonen, was nothing short of phenomenal. To witness the rendition of Ferruccio Busoni's towering Piano Concerto, one of the music world's overlooked wonders, was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The unity of the piano soloist, chorus, and substantial orchestra created an atmosphere that transcended the ordinary and led the audience into a world of artistic marvels. The momentum and excitement of the performance as evocations of Busoni's musical forebears piled atop one another, combined with the formidable technique and breathtaking scope, had me spellbound throughout the evening. As I learned about Igor Levit, his commitment to music and making art matter resonated deeply. His belief in music's gift to unite people and remind us of our shared humanity struck a chord in my heart. The fusion of his political and artistic activities was inspiring, and his passionate advocacy for a world free from bigotry and complacency left an indelible impression on me. The blending of the old and the new in Levit's musical journey, his courage to use music as a tool to voice out against the issues of our time, and his ambition to integrate his life into his music have given me a renewed perspective on the role of art in our society. I came away from the performance not only rejuvenated by the beautiful music but also inspired by Levit's dedication to making a difference. This concert was a memorable musical experience and a reminder of the power of art and the limitless perspectives it offers. Thank you once again for allowing me to witness such an extraordinary performance. It has been a bright spot, and I will forever cherish this experience. Your support for veterans like myself is deeply appreciated. With heartfelt thanks, Maury "Mack" McFadden LCDR, USCG (Ret.)
