Hello San Francisco Symphony, I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for the generous gift of tickets to the extraordinary concert held on Friday, May 5, 2023, at 7:30 PM. As a disabled veteran, it is not often that I have the opportunity to attend such remarkable events, and I am truly grateful for this experience. The performance conducted by Thomas Wilkins was absolutely breathtaking, and I was captivated from the moment the first notes of Leonard Bernstein's Three Dance Episodes from On the Town filled the concert hall. Each piece in the program showcased the exceptional talents of the San Francisco Symphony, and Branford Marsalis' performance on the saxophone was nothing short of inspiring. It was an incredibly moving experience to witness the revival of Erwin Schulhoff's Hot-Sonate, a piece with such a poignant history, and to be taken on a musical journey through Harlem with Duke Ellington's symphonic masterpiece. John Williams' Escapades was a thrilling reminder of the power and versatility of the progressive jazz movement. As a veteran, I have experienced firsthand the healing and transformative power of music. Your generosity has provided me with a memorable evening that I will cherish for years to come. The San Francisco Symphony's commitment to supporting veterans and fostering a love for the arts within our community is truly commendable. Once again, thank you for giving me the chance to attend such a magnificent performance.
