This was our first symphony concert. I am unsure how conductors affect the music, however, Mr. Abdullah's presence and technique added to the experience. I enjoyed watching him and watching the musicians reacting to his direction. Matthew Hakkarainen is an incredible violin player. I cannot imagine how this young man emotionally and intricately plays without reading music. Incredible! The Baton Rouge Symphony, with approximately sixty musicians for this concert, had a big sound. I was not familiar with most of the music; however, the sound was clean, pleasant, and full. Mr. Abdullah seemed happy with the performance. Thank you, Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, for the tickets!
