Steve is a Colonel in the Marine Corps Reserves who has in both an active duty and reserve capacity both enlisted and as an officer. He enlisted in 1987 and was a Combat Engineer, upon earning his Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University in 1989 and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant and designated as a Logistics Officer. Throughout his tenure in the Marine Corps he has deployed to many locales throughout the world to include the Persian Gulf, Somalia, Mongolia and Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
He comes from a lineage of military service to include his father who served in the Marine Corps with the third battalion, third Marine Division on Okinawa and his Grandfather who was a Captain in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Navy during WWII while his other Grandfather was a war correspondent dispatched to Great Britain.
Steve is very involved with veteran's organizations and initiatives throughout Arizona and nationwide. He also works with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation's Hiring or Heroes program assisting transitioning service members, veterans and their families in obtaining meaningful careers. He's also very dedicated to ensuring that veterans pursuing education after their military service succeed in higher education and beyond; this stems from his previous service at Student Veterans of America as the Vice President of Outreach and Alumni Relations.
He acquired his MBA in 2000 and continues to participate in the Marine Corps Reserves, in his current billet assigned to the First Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton California, attached the First Marine Logistics Group.
