Past Hero's Wishes
May 28th 2011 My name is Kevin Hardin and I was seriously wounded while serving as a front-line combat medic in Samarra, Iraq on 9/30/07. I was on my 13th month of deployment when I was injured. I endured over 32 surgeries while in the hospital and am now 100% disabled due to my injuries. When I was recently asked if I have any regrets for joining the Army, my answer is absolutely no. I have no regrets whatsoever for joining the Army and serving my country; what is there to regret? The only regret I might have is the fact that I can no longer serve my country and be a combat medic. My wife and I, along with my father who was recently diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, are planning a trip to Orlando, Florida in May 2011. I wish for tickets for Universal Studios in Orlando. Thank you for any assistance you can be. |

May 13th 2011 If I were given just One wish; what would it be? That seems easy but I have so many answers to that question and most of them are self gratifying. So....I really soul searched and remembered who gave up everything to support me in my crisis after deployment. The physical and mental rehabilitation alone demanded her constant attention. You see...she had been studying to be a Veterinarian for over 5 years, and this was her dream. When I returned from the Middle East, all that changed. I was no longer the man that she agreed to marry prior to deployment. Never the less, she honored our commitment to each other and we got married. Her and I had talked about what we would do for our honeymoon almost daily before I left, and always narrowed it down to a weekend in a Las Vegas Suite. We would fantasize of toasting our champaigne glasses while sitting in our hotub over looking the Las Vegas strip. We would sometimes disagree on the shows we wanted to see, but found compromise when the Cirque du Soleil venue came to life. Unfortunately upon returning from war, Melisa had to quit her graduate studies and take care of me. She never did get to continue that dream, but we had 3 beautiful children that became her priority. Her and I never did get to go to Las Vegas for our Honeymoon. We spent our honeymoon at a V.A. hospital in Palo Alto, California. If Vet Tix is offering to me a "Heros Wish" than I have a very expensive answer. I would like to take my wife to Las Vegas to see the "O" Show by Cirque du Soleil. The tickets range from $98.00 to $150.00 each. I can cover the traveling expenses and probably a hotel room somewhere close by, but that would be all I could afford due to our financial position. Thank you for hearing my wish and Thank you for being there for us. |

May 7th 2011 My name is SGT Pedro Encinas, and I am currently on my second deployment to Afghanistan. I deployed for the first time in 2007, when my first daughter was only 3 months old, and came back from that deployment when she was over 1 year old, so you can all imagine how much of her life I missed. On this, my second deployment I left when my second daughter was 9 months, so I missed her 1st birthday too! I do not regret serving my Country, I really enjoy my job, but as we all know, this job is very unpredictable and unfortunately, I have missed very important times with my family like birthdays, anniversaries, first steps, first words, and many more milestones. For that reason and because I love my little family, I would love to be able to, in a way make it up to them, try to make up for lost time by taking them to Disneyland, a place that I know will put a smile on their face, and let them forget for a couple of days all the sadness and loneliness we have all felt because of the deployments. Thank you very much for this opportunity, and God Bless! |

Apr 3rd 2011 I have lived in Colorado for two years and I have turned into a hockey fan. I have never been to a game. My girlfriend's family offered me a ticket last season, but the fact that I had to go to the National Training Center to get ready for deployment caused me to miss the game. I will get back from Afghanistan some time in March and I would like to take my girlfriend and her family to see the Colorado Avalanche play the Calgary Flames in Denver. Both she and her parents are HUGE Avalanche fans. I am going to ask her to marry me as soon as I get home, and this particular weekend will be the first time I am around her parents after the engagement. It would be great to be able to spend time with them while enjoying something they are so passionate about. Thanks!! |

Mar 19th 2011 I am 1LT Josh Dodson. I am from West Virginia. I attended West Virginia University where I recieved my commission after 6 years of enlisted service. I have been in the Army for 8 years now, and have multiple deployments. I love my job and what I do for America. My family has backed me up 100% of all my deployments. I have always watched and followed all UFC fights. Spending a year on deployment here in Afghanistan I was not able to watch any. It has always been a dream of mine to watch a fight live. It has been an extremely long year on me and my family. I would really enjoy watching a fight live. Thanks- |

Mar 19th 2011 My name is Eddie Jarrett and I am coming back from Afghanistan in late February and this would be a great opportunity for me to unwind and enjoy some time with my best friend! I have a 1 year old boy and 2 year old girl and I really look forward to getting home to them! I have events planned for them. My best friend and I have been wanting to attend an actual UFC event for 3 years now! My wish is for floor level tickets to UFC 128 on March 19, 2011, but any seat in the house would be great! Ticket prices range from $300-$500 per event and Newark, NJ is close enough to my hometown and there is a 'Shogun' Rua vs Rashad Evans match already lined up for this event! We are huge UFC fans and have never attended an event. This would be the weekend to remember forever! I have been on 2 deployments already and this gift would be so amazing if you can make it happen! This would be the perfect opportunity!! Thank you for this opportunity! |

Mar 15th 2011 My wife has always wanted to go to graceland and we have never had a chance to make it down there. I would like to take my wife there for our anniversary when I return from my year long deployment to afghanistan. The package I would like to do for her is the "Memphis Music Experience" which includes Enjoy two nights at Elvis Presley's Heartbreak Hotel, lunch for two at the Hard Rock Café on Beale Street, and tickets for two to great Memphis music attractions with prices starting from $378.00 plus tax weekdays, $388.00 + tax on weekends and $424.00 + tax during the summer months. If that isn't possible just being able to take my wife there would be great. Thanks for your help. |

Mar 12th 2011 I will be returning from Iraq in the month of February and would love to be able to take my children to the Dallas Mavericks v Los Angeles Lakers game in Dallas. I feel like this will enable me to re-establish my place as head of my household. The reason that I serve is to be able to keep my children safe and free as they are by being a citizen of the USA. Many take for granted the options that we have being born as Americans-however my children are certainly aware of the huge sacrifice that is being made for their well being. We deployed out of Fort Hood right after the shooting took place, and having experienced that first hand was something that I vowed if I could help it my children wouldn't have to experience. The tickets to this game would be so greatly appreciated by us all. Unfortunately as a divorced single mom it can be difficult to make something as simple as getting tickets to a game easy to do. The game is on a Friday night in Dallas, Texas-I am able to make the drive and make sleeping arrangements however to gain access to those tickets may not be available to me due to this deployment that I am on. Of course I cannot say exactly when I am returning back to Texas-however I will be back in the Month of February. If you require anything else of me please let me know |

Mar 8th 2011 I am requesting a Hero's Wish on behalf of my husband. He does not know that I am doing this. He is the type of person that never asks for anything. He is currently on his 4th deployment to Iraq and will be home for R&R the beginning of March 2011. I would love to be able to take him to the Music As A Weapon Tour V - Disturbed and Korn Concert on March 8, 2011 at the Belton Expo Center (2 tickets). He always seems to miss out on events everywhere we've lived, due to constant deployments or training. He even misses out on events downrange due to working long hours. We have been married 6 years and have spent probably 2 1/2 of those together. Before we married he had been in the Army 12 years as a Single Soldier. He has always been a giving person and never asks for anything for himself. Many times he would give up his Leave to his Soldiers who had family and didn't have any Leave left, so they could be with their families. He has been a mentor and support for his Soldiers, helping them through personal, financial, career issues, giving up his own personal and family time when they needed him the most. Please grant him this one wish to make his R&R, and birthday (3/21/1969) one of the most memorable. |

Feb 23rd 2011 Hi my name is Samantha Myers. I am one of 10 children; 2 girls and 8 boys. I am from Ohio. I go to school at Marshall University. I hope to be a pharmacist someday. I love what I do with the military so much that I re-enlisted here in Afghanistan on Christmas. My baby brother is a military policeman and I am very proud of him. I am currently deployed in Afghanistan. My baby brother returned home from Iraq in August. I return home in February. I would like to take my brother and our significant others to the Kid Rock Concert in my town. I think it would be a great way to spend quality time with him and to catch up on the time we have been apart. |

Feb 14th 2011 I am a combat wounded veteran who was injured by a grenade while serving a 14month deployment in Iraq back in 2003. I am also service connected for a back injury and a few other disabilities. My wish is to attend an Andrea Bocelli concert with my Wife On Valentines Day here in Florida. I would really love to give this present to my wife for helping and understanding and being by my side thru everything. My wife is a Captain in the Air Force and has served for 5 years. We have been married now for 4 years and have a Baby Boy on the way which is due in April 2011. We are both very Huge Fans of Andrea Bocelli and I would just love to attend this concert on Valentines Day with my wife. It would be the greatest for both of us. Thank you |

Feb 4th 2011 I am currently deployed in Afghanistan, but will be returning from my tour mid-January! Like most Soldiers, I have been deployed 27 months over the last 54 months. It has been hard on my wife and myself, but it has been really hard on my 8 y/o daughter Kylee. When I have been home we play basketball together and she attended her first basketball camp last summer! I would really like to take her to her first NBA game when I return. I am stationed in Colorado, so the Nuggets are our hometown team. I selected a game I would like to take her to, but any Denver Nugget game after 21 January would be nice. |

Feb 4th 2011 Well where to start? I guess I will just put it out there.. I would love to take my family of 6 to Disneyland for a day or 2 to see everything but we just can not afford to do it on our own. My wife and I are from California and grew up being able to go to Disneyland often but we are just not able to do this for our kids. I was wounded in 2005 while serving in the Army and have had a hard time walking and standing for a long period of time. So this has been the other part of the problem as there is a lot of walking so it would be nice if we can get 2 day passes so that we can experience the whole park and if I need to rest my leg I can. I know this is a long shot but I figured I will try and see what happens. Thank you for your time and please help us to take our kids to the "Happiest place on earth." |

Feb 3rd 2011 It has always been a dream of mine to get my wife and I and my brother and his wife together for a basketball game. My brother and I dont have the greatest of a relationship, but over the last year while I have been deployed we have started to bond more than we ever have. My brother is a huge Heat fan and my wife and I are big Magic Fans. I think it would be awsome if we had the chance to get together and watch a game as both of our teams battle. I really would enjoy this and I'm sure my brother would appreciate it as well |

Jan 2nd 2011 My name is SGT Roland Gutierrez, and I am currently deployed in Iraq. But I will be home soon, very soon. I hope that someone can fulfill my wish to go the the final game of the NFL season; the Chiefs vs. Raiders on January 2nd. I would love to take my family to go see the Chiefs play before the football season ends. After I come back from Iraq, I will have to report the Germany and my new duty station for 3 years. So this will be my last chance to go to an NFL game for a while. Thank you for considering/donating tickets to me and my family. |

Jan 1st 2011 I am a big OU Sooners fan. I am coming home for R&R 1 January, 2011. This bowl game is a dream of mine and my wife's. I want to do something for her since she has been my rock through this deployment to Afghanistan. We never had a honeymoon and not sure if we ever will because money is tight when you are a E4; She never complains though. She always puts me first. We do not have a PX at the FOB I am on, so she always keeps the boxes coming. Even when we are broke, she always finds enough to send me necessities. I can say that we have become closer though we are 7,000 miles apart. I know the Fiest Bowl is a big dream. I would be in heaven if this came true. God bless you all for what you are doing. You make everything I do worth it. Knowing that we have people who care and support us no matter where we are, well that makes me feel good to be a soldier! Thank you and God bless America! Dec 29th 2010 I am currently on active duty with the Mighty Marne Division (3rd Infantry Mech). This is my second tour to Iraq. Since enlisting my wife and I haven"t been able to attend a single Minnesota Wild hockey game. Its been since 2006. We used to attend them kind of frequently with some close friends of ours, but unfortunately, due to the operation tempo of my current duty station in Georgia, we have not been able to get together. Soon I will be home from Iraq and able to take some long awaited leave. Fortunately, my leave runs right through Christmas, and the Minnesota Wild play the San Jose Sharks on 29DEC2010. Since I promised my wife we would go home for Christmas(since I'll actually be here) I thought it would be a great idea to try and get those friends together again to go see one more Wild hockey game. Well, thanks for hearing me out.. Eitherway this goes, I really think this is a FANTASTIC thing this agency does.. Simply AMAZING! |
