Past Hero's Wishes

UNIVERSAL TICKETS, ORLANDO, FLORIDA

May 28th 2011

My name is Kevin Hardin and I was seriously wounded while serving as a front-line combat medic in Samarra, Iraq on 9/30/07. I was on my 13th month of deployment when I was injured. I endured over 32 surgeries while in the hospital and am now 100% disabled due to my injuries. When I was recently asked if I have any regrets for joining the Army, my answer is absolutely no. I have no regrets whatsoever for joining the Army and serving my country; what is there to regret? The only regret I might have is the fact that I can no longer serve my country and be a combat medic. My wife and I, along with my father who was recently diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, are planning a trip to Orlando, Florida in May 2011. I wish for tickets for Universal Studios in Orlando. Thank you for any assistance you can be.

Daughters First Game - Texas Rangers Baseball game

    May 23rd 2011

I am a die hard Texas Rangers fan and currently deployed to Iraq. I will be coming home on leave in the middle of May, around the 10th. I will be home a couple weeks after my first anniversary as well as my daughters second birthday. Both my wife and my daughter are big Rangers fans also. Last season was an amazing year for my Rangers, with not only winning their first ever playoff game, but making it all the way to the World Series. I was in Iraq during their epic journey and could not enjoy any of the games of my beloved team. I did the best I could to keep up with the games, but with my hectic schedule that was fairly difficult. For my Hero’s Wish I would like to be able to take my wife to a game for our anniversary while at the same time taking my daughter to her first MLB and Texas Rangers game for her 2nd birthday. Thank you for your consideration in making my Hero’s Wish come true!

I just want to say thank you for giving me an opportunity to see my favorite team play after missing their World Series run the previous season. Unfortunately my daughter was not able to go to her first game due to being sick, but she was at home with grandma watching ever second of it cheering "Lets go Rangers".
The O show by Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas

    May 13th 2011

If I were given just One wish; what would it be? That seems easy but I have so many answers to that question and most of them are self gratifying. So....I really soul searched and remembered who gave up everything to support me in my crisis after deployment. The physical and mental rehabilitation alone demanded her constant attention. You see...she had been studying to be a Veterinarian for over 5 years, and this was her dream. When I returned from the Middle East, all that changed. I was no longer the man that she agreed to marry prior to deployment. Never the less, she honored our commitment to each other and we got married. Her and I had talked about what we would do for our honeymoon almost daily before I left, and always narrowed it down to a weekend in a Las Vegas Suite. We would fantasize of toasting our champaigne glasses while sitting in our hotub over looking the Las Vegas strip. We would sometimes disagree on the shows we wanted to see, but found compromise when the Cirque du Soleil venue came to life. Unfortunately upon returning from war, Melisa had to quit her graduate studies and take care of me. She never did get to continue that dream, but we had 3 beautiful children that became her priority. Her and I never did get to go to Las Vegas for our Honeymoon. We spent our honeymoon at a V.A. hospital in Palo Alto, California. If Vet Tix is offering to me a "Heros Wish" than I have a very expensive answer. I would like to take my wife to Las Vegas to see the "O" Show by Cirque du Soleil. The tickets range from $98.00 to $150.00 each. I can cover the traveling expenses and probably a hotel room somewhere close by, but that would be all I could afford due to our financial position. Thank you for hearing my wish and Thank you for being there for us.

    Disneyland Dream!

    May 7th 2011

My name is SGT Pedro Encinas, and I am currently on my second deployment to Afghanistan. I deployed for the first time in 2007, when my first daughter was only 3 months old, and came back from that deployment when she was over 1 year old, so you can all imagine how much of her life I missed. On this, my second deployment I left when my second daughter was 9 months, so I missed her 1st birthday too! I do not regret serving my Country, I really enjoy my job, but as we all know, this job is very unpredictable and unfortunately, I have missed very important times with my family like birthdays, anniversaries, first steps, first words, and many more milestones. For that reason and because I love my little family, I would love to be able to, in a way make it up to them, try to make up for lost time by taking them to Disneyland, a place that I know will put a smile on their face, and let them forget for a couple of days all the sadness and loneliness we have all felt because of the deployments. Thank you very much for this opportunity, and God Bless!

San Antonio Spurs game with my daughters before I deploy

    Apr 3rd 2011

I am a single mother of two young girls ages 11 and 12. After a 5 year custody battle I won primary custody of my girls. I missed out on a lot of their lives and have never done things with them that most parents have with their children. We are all San Antonio Spurs Fans and although I have been to a game before in the past, I have never been able to attend a game with my daughters. All the games I have been to have been "nose bleed" section games! :( I would love to get some GREAT tickets, maybe floor tickets for myself and my two daughters to any Spurs game. I am about to deploy again for my third time in Mid April and would love to just enjoy a great game with my daughters and make a memory that I can carry throughout this deployment!

Hockey brings the family together.. Avalanche v. Flames

      Apr 3rd 2011

I have lived in Colorado for two years and I have turned into a hockey fan. I have never been to a game. My girlfriend's family offered me a ticket last season, but the fact that I had to go to the National Training Center to get ready for deployment caused me to miss the game. I will get back from Afghanistan some time in March and I would like to take my girlfriend and her family to see the Colorado Avalanche play the Calgary Flames in Denver. Both she and her parents are HUGE Avalanche fans. I am going to ask her to marry me as soon as I get home, and this particular weekend will be the first time I am around her parents after the engagement. It would be great to be able to spend time with them while enjoying something they are so passionate about. Thanks!!

I am 1LT Josh Dodson. I am from West Virginia. I attended West Virginia University where I recieved my commission after 6 years of enlisted service. I have been in the Army for 8 years now, and have multiple deployments. I love my job and what I do for America. My family has backed me up 100% of all my deployments. I have always watched and followed all UFC fights. Spending a year on deployment here in Afghanistan I was not able to watch any. It has always been a dream of mine to watch a fight live. It has been an extremely long year on me and my family. I would really enjoy watching a fight live. Thanks-

My name is Eddie Jarrett and I am coming back from Afghanistan in late February and this would be a great opportunity for me to unwind and enjoy some time with my best friend! I have a 1 year old boy and 2 year old girl and I really look forward to getting home to them! I have events planned for them. My best friend and I have been wanting to attend an actual UFC event for 3 years now! My wish is for floor level tickets to UFC 128 on March 19, 2011, but any seat in the house would be great! Ticket prices range from $300-$500 per event and Newark, NJ is close enough to my hometown and there is a 'Shogun' Rua vs Rashad Evans match already lined up for this event! We are huge UFC fans and have never attended an event. This would be the weekend to remember forever! I have been on 2 deployments already and this gift would be so amazing if you can make it happen! This would be the perfect opportunity!! Thank you for this opportunity!

Memphis Music Experience - After Deployment Anniversary

            Mar 15th 2011

My wife has always wanted to go to graceland and we have never had a chance to make it down there. I would like to take my wife there for our anniversary when I return from my year long deployment to afghanistan. The package I would like to do for her is the "Memphis Music Experience" which includes Enjoy two nights at Elvis Presley's Heartbreak Hotel, lunch for two at the Hard Rock Café on Beale Street, and tickets for two to great Memphis music attractions with prices starting from $378.00 plus tax weekdays, $388.00 + tax on weekends and $424.00 + tax during the summer months. If that isn't possible just being able to take my wife there would be great. Thanks for your help.

            Dallas Mavericks Basketball Tickets

            Mar 12th 2011

I will be returning from Iraq in the month of February and would love to be able to take my children to the Dallas Mavericks v Los Angeles Lakers game in Dallas. I feel like this will enable me to re-establish my place as head of my household. The reason that I serve is to be able to keep my children safe and free as they are by being a citizen of the USA. Many take for granted the options that we have being born as Americans-however my children are certainly aware of the huge sacrifice that is being made for their well being. We deployed out of Fort Hood right after the shooting took place, and having experienced that first hand was something that I vowed if I could help it my children wouldn't have to experience. The tickets to this game would be so greatly appreciated by us all. Unfortunately as a divorced single mom it can be difficult to make something as simple as getting tickets to a game easy to do. The game is on a Friday night in Dallas, Texas-I am able to make the drive and make sleeping arrangements however to gain access to those tickets may not be available to me due to this deployment that I am on. Of course I cannot say exactly when I am returning back to Texas-however I will be back in the Month of February. If you require anything else of me please let me know

Wife's Request for Her Hero - Disturbed & Korn Concert

              Mar 8th 2011

I am requesting a Hero's Wish on behalf of my husband. He does not know that I am doing this. He is the type of person that never asks for anything. He is currently on his 4th deployment to Iraq and will be home for R&R the beginning of March 2011. I would love to be able to take him to the Music As A Weapon Tour V - Disturbed and Korn Concert on March 8, 2011 at the Belton Expo Center (2 tickets). He always seems to miss out on events everywhere we've lived, due to constant deployments or training. He even misses out on events downrange due to working long hours. We have been married 6 years and have spent probably 2 1/2 of those together. Before we married he had been in the Army 12 years as a Single Soldier. He has always been a giving person and never asks for anything for himself. Many times he would give up his Leave to his Soldiers who had family and didn't have any Leave left, so they could be with their families. He has been a mentor and support for his Soldiers, helping them through personal, financial, career issues, giving up his own personal and family time when they needed him the most. Please grant him this one wish to make his R&R, and birthday (3/21/1969) one of the most memorable.

I am currently deployed in Afghanistan. My baby brother returned home from Iraq in August. I return home in February. Feb 20th 2011

I served three tours in Iraq with the Army's Third Infantry Division, and Desert Storm/Shield in the Marines. I was medically retired in February 2010 after a run in with an IED. At Walter Reed, I was diagnosed with Traumatic Brain Injury to include cognitive disorder & difficulty with balance, Post Traumatic Migraine headaches, Herniated disc L5-S1, Patellofemoral syndrome, Tinnitus, Lower left & right extremity Polyneuropathy and left ear hearing loss. I spent the next 26 months in a Warrior Transition Unit receiving physical, speech, occupational, balance, and TBI therapies. My family loves NASCAR, each has their own favorite driver. We watch NASCAR on T.V. every weekend and I’ve been told Daytona is something you have to experience at least once in your life so this is what we want to experience together. My Hero’s Wish is to take my family to the Daytona 500 on 20 February 2011 so my family can experience something memorable together.

ultimate race experience at Daytona 500

                    Feb 20th 2011

I served 18 years in the Army and was medically discharged in May 2006 after I spent 18 months in Iraq in support of OIF. I have been diagnosed with PTSD, peripheral neuropathy, hearing loss and TBI with severe headaches. I recently had an MRI done and was told my brain & nervous system are deteriorating...gulf war syndrome. I will go through stages beginning with memory loss to dementia/Alzheimer's to nothing. The PTSD makes it difficult to show feelings….haven't been much of a husband in the past 5 years. My wife is my everything. Now we don't have a lot of time left together so we want to make memories. My only memory of NASCAR was the Daytona 500 in 2004...I was deployed watching the race on AFN. On lap 100 we were attacked and a rocket exploded near me. I was tossed like a rag doll and when I woke I had blood running down my face and shrapnel in my head. My wife grew up in the south and has been around racing all her life. She always said Daytona is something you have to experience in person at least once in your life. So this is what we want to experience together. My Hero’s Wish is to walk on the track and see a real pit road, maybe get a picture or an autograph or two. This will be a memory that I hope we will keep us going when the going gets tough.

I will be returning from my 5th deployment this month and wanted to treat my wife to a great night out for all she has done and dealt with while I have been out of the country, again. And what is better than listening to two of the greatest country singers of all time - Reba and George Strait. It would be a dream to get to see Reba sing in person. And to find that she will be in my home state a month after getting home and touring with George Strait, I just hope you can find a way to make this dream come true for my wife and I. Thanks for listening and thanks for all you do to give Vets a chance to have a time of well deserved fun for them and their families!!

It has been hard on my wife and myself, but it has been really hard on my 8 y/o daughter Kylee. When I have been home we play basketball together and she attended her first basketball camp last summer! I would really like to take her to her first NBA game when I return. I am stationed in Colorado, so the Nuggets are our hometown team. I selected a game I would like to take her to, but any Denver Nugget game after 21 January would be nice.

I would love to take my family of 6 to Disneyland for a day or 2 to see everything but we just can not afford to do it on our own. My wife and I are from California and grew up being able to go to Disneyland often but we are just not able to do this for our kids. I was wounded in 2005 while serving in the Army and have had a hard time walking and standing for a long period of time. So this has been the other part of the problem as there is a lot of walking so it would be nice if we can get 2 day passes so that we can experience the whole park and if I need to rest my leg I can. I know this is a long shot but I figured I will try and see what happens. Thank you for your time and please help us to take our kids to the "Happiest place on earth."

                              Packers-Bears NFC Championship

                              Jan 23rd 2011

My name is SGT Nathan Siebach and I'm writing this wish on behalf of myself and five other soldiers in my unit. We are currently at our mob station at Ft. McCoy, WI in preparation for a 12 month deployment to Afghanistan and have watched the end of the NFL season with great angst and excitement as three of us are avid Packers fans and the other three die hard bears fans. The fact that this game is a possibility this year has brought on massive amounts of trash talking from each side. By some miracle we have one break in our training schedule which happens to be from the 23rd thru the 26th of Jan. The 23rd being a possible date for the NFC Championship game. We realize that a few stars need to align before this would even be a possibility, such as both teams winning their divisional playoff games this weekend (which both sets of fans are confident will happen) and then the NFC championship game actually being scheduled on the 23rd. We can provide our own transportation and lodging to/from the game and are asking for any seats to the game. To be able to go to Soldier Stadium and witness such a game right before leaving for our deployment would be one of the greatest gifts ever. Many thanks to any and all who could make such a miracle dream wish come true and give three soldiers total bragging rights for the upcoming year in Afghanistan over their fellow soldiers. Thank you, *cough*gobears*cough

Dear Vet Tickets and Contributors - Just wanted to say thanks soooo much for making it possible for us to go to the game. We had a blast, even if the Bears lost *sigh*. Because it was an early afternoon game we drove down early from Ft. McCoy, WI and stopped by Wrigley field before heading to the stadium. The seats were amazing, and even saw Terry Bradshaw right in front of us after the game. On the way back we stopped at Giordanos for saw awesome Chicago deep dish pizza. Even though the upcoming year in Afghanistan will be full of relentless packer fan gloating, we would not have traded this experience for anything. Thanks again to vet tix and this wonderful program. Jan 12th 2011

My wife, Lara, has wanted desperately to see the musical Wicked ever since it came out. I have wanted to take her to see it, but the last time I planned to, I was deployed to Kuwait. Then we had twins and the likelihood of us going after that severely diminished. Lara has been a good sport about it, and a wonderful mother to my daughters. I am now in Afghanistan, but I would like to surprise my wife and take her to see Wicked at the Gershwin Theatre when I get back from my deployment. I know that it is a lot to ask, but I wanted to give her the best seats available, since it will probably be the only time we are ever able to make it. I was planning on taking her roughly 12 January 2011.

I wanted to thank Chris from TN and Eddy from Vettix for allowing me to take my wife to this amazing show. Not only was Eddy able to hook us up with awesome seats, he also set us up for a backstage tour after the show were they told us how they do their magic. My wife even got to hold many of the props for the show, and we even ran into Mandy Gonzalez (Elphaba in the show). It was a night to remember, and I am so very grateful for the opportunity that Vettix gave me to share this with my wife. I appreciate what you have done for this soldier, as well as all you do for all of us that serve. Thank you again!

                                Jan 2nd 2011

My name is SGT Roland Gutierrez, and I am currently deployed in Iraq. But I will be home soon, very soon. I hope that someone can fulfill my wish to go the the final game of the NFL season; the Chiefs vs. Raiders on January 2nd. I would love to take my family to go see the Chiefs play before the football season ends. After I come back from Iraq, I will have to report the Germany and my new duty station for 3 years. So this will be my last chance to go to an NFL game for a while. Thank you for considering/donating tickets to me and my family.

I would like to thank the Kansas City Chiefs staff and players for making myself and my family wish come true. It was a very memorable moment, and I couldn't of asked for a better gift. That weekend was the only time we all could be together, and what better way to the day together than to watch the Chiefs play! I want to also thank Vet Tix for making this all happen. Without the selflessness of everyone involved with Vet Tix, none of this would be possible. God Bless our troops, Vet Tix, the Chiefs and the USA!!!!

I am a big OU Sooners fan. I am coming home for R&R 1 January, 2011. This bowl game is a dream of mine and my wife's. I want to do something for her since she has been my rock through this deployment to Afghanistan. We never had a honeymoon and not sure if we ever will because money is tight when you are a E4; She never complains though. She always puts me first. We do not have a PX at the FOB I am on, so she always keeps the boxes coming. Even when we are broke, she always finds enough to send me necessities. I can say that we have become closer though we are 7,000 miles apart. I know the Fiest Bowl is a big dream. I would be in heaven if this came true. God bless you all for what you are doing. You make everything I do worth it. Knowing that we have people who care and support us no matter where we are, well that makes me feel good to be a soldier! Thank you and God bless America! I don't care who is playing, I am just a HUGE fan of football, from high school all the way up to the pros. I will watch any game. We just moved to the Tempe area and would think this would be the perfect way to celebrate my departure. Thank you.

                                        Dec 29th 2010

I am currently on active duty with the Mighty Marne Division (3rd Infantry Mech). This is my second tour to Iraq. Since enlisting my wife and I haven"t been able to attend a single Minnesota Wild hockey game. Its been since 2006. We used to attend them kind of frequently with some close friends of ours, but unfortunately, due to the operation tempo of my current duty station in Georgia, we have not been able to get together. Soon I will be home from Iraq and able to take some long awaited leave. Fortunately, my leave runs right through Christmas, and the Minnesota Wild play the San Jose Sharks on 29DEC2010. Since I promised my wife we would go home for Christmas(since I'll actually be here) I thought it would be a great idea to try and get those friends together again to go see one more Wild hockey game. Well, thanks for hearing me out.. Eitherway this goes, I really think this is a FANTASTIC thing this agency does.. Simply AMAZING!

                                          Dec 26th 2010

My husband Rene was born and raised in Miami (Coral Gables). Six years ago, he joined the U.S. Army, and was stationed up at Ft. Drum, N.Y., where we currently live. My husband is an Infantryman, and has deployed three times in the past six years to spent a total of 39 months at war. Because of these grueling combat rotations, he has not been able to go to a Dolphins game in five years. When he was younger, he would go to games as often as he could. He is the ultimate Dolphins fan, always telling me to check the game and let him know how they are doing when he calls, and every Christmas all he asks me for is Dolphins memorbelia. Please, help me surprise my husband with 3 tickets (my husband, myself, and our 4yr old and newborn) to see the Miami Dolphins vs. Lions on Dec. 26th. He doesn't know I am doing this, I don't want to get his hopes up.

I am SSG Deborah Lawrence and I'm currently on my 2nd deployment. The 1st deployment was to Iraq in 03-04 and this time it is Afghanistan with the 1092nd Engineer Battalion. My husband & I are avid Browns fans but have never attended a NFL game in person. I will be home on leave from my deployment in December and I know there is a Browns home game in Cleveland against the Ravens on the 26th. We live in West Virginia and it wouldn't be much of a drive to get to the game. My Hero's Wish is for my husband & I to get (2) tickets to the Browns game and maybe a one night stay at a nice hotel in Cleveland. It would be a great mini-vacation and some much needed time spent together for the two of us. Thank you for the opportunity to submit my Hero's Wish! Sincerely, SSG Deborah Lawrence

                                              Dec 12th 2010

Hi. We are a family of 4 stationed in southern Arizona. My husband is currently in his 3rd deployment and able to come home on R&R during the first few weeks of December. Our 6 year old son, Joshua, started playing his first year of football right after his dad had to go. He was disappointed when he learned dad wouldn’t be there for the whole season but also understands there will be more years to come since he now wants to play football when he grows up! We do our best to record the games and send them off so they both feel dad is more a part of it. Joshua has talked about wanting to attend a “real” football game ever since he started playing. His team is the Cardinals Red Flag and I am wondering if it’s possible to get tickets to the Cardinals game in Phoenix on December 12th to surprise both father and son with. We have never attended a professional sporting event before mainly because we have never been able to afford to do so. I thought it would be extremely memorable to experience a first as a family at a time when memories are so valuable to us. We would appreciate 4 tickets to the game so we can go as a family, but would feel just as blessed with only 2 so father and son can at least attend. Thank you for considering us and for any help in making this wish come true. The Yates Family

It was above and beyond what we were expecting! Thank you to the one who donated the tickets, to the Cardinals for the field passes, to Vet Tix for offering such a wonderful way to help make things like this come true, and to Eddie and anyone else who worked everything out for us. This wish was something we were not expecting to be fulfilled with the short time notice. But to our surprise, it was :) The seats were excellent, it was a perfect view of the field. The field passes for father and son were such a wonderful surprise...our son's eyes lit up walking onto the field!! The kids never let those bears go you gave them either Eddie...that was a surprise they loved. We had an absolute great time!! Thank you for all the time and effort that was put into making this happen for us. This is something we will never forget!!! The Yates Family
