Thank you so much for the opportunity to listen to this event. The author was so informative and the program was enlightening. I'd love to see more of these events. I was absolutely enthralled with the discussion on civil rights from revolution to reconstruction. The idea of free papers as a form of identification never even crossed my mind as a white woman. Amazing how cruel we as a society to people we considered others. So glad I got the chance to expand my knowledge of our past and hope it helps me in my future as I interact with people different from me. More understanding can only expand my empathy and compassion to my fellow humans.

I would like to thank the New-York Historical Society for the opportunity to attend the program about the civil rights movement. It made me realize that I don't know as much as I should about the history of the United States. Thank you for giving me that spark to dive deeper into our history.
