(PHOENIX, Ariz.) – As the AZ Cardinals gear up for another winning season of football, Spring Training Camp in Flagstaff helps them prepare. But nothing could prepare the children of the Army’s 1404th Transportation Company as their mothers and fathers deployed earlier this year. The Veteran Tickets Foundation (Vet Tix) and the AZ Cardinals, along with Flagstaff American Legion Post #3 and the Pat Tillman Foundation, plan to put smiles on 40 children’s faces from the 1404th, with a private meet and greet on Aug. 7.
The meet & greet with players and coaches from the AZ Cardinals will take place in two shifts before each practice with 20 kids in each slot. The first group will meet the players at 9:05 AM and the second will begin at 3:05 PM.
“Vet Tix is thrilled to make this event happen for the kids of the 1404th,” said Vet Tix CEO and Founder Michael Focareto. “Giving back is what our organization is all about, and to have the AZ Cardinals backing us on that mission really validates what we are trying to accomplish.”
The 1404th Transportation Company is an Army National Guard Unit stationed at Camp Navajo, Flagstaff AZ. The group has been deployed for several months, and was selected by Vet Tix to enjoy this special event as a way of saying thank you to the families who endure lengths of time without their loved ones.
Pat Tillman’s legacy will also be celebrated out on the field by all of the children wearing t-shirts bearing his Cardinals jersey number, 40. “Pat Tillman Foundation seeks to celebrate Pats distinguished legacy by providing resources and support to soldiers, veterans and military families. “The Pat Tillman Foundation is honored to support this event and provide a memorable experience for these children,” said Executive Director, Kadi Tierney. “Partnering with the Veteran Tickets Foundation provides us with a great opportunity to connect even further with our armed forces and continue Pat’s mission.”
