Thanks to the Kaufman center for the Preforming Arts for the seats to see “The Wheel of Fortune”! Although we sat way up top in the balcony we still had a good time cheering the contestants on and guessing the puzzles.

A huge mahalo to Blue Note for helping me to put the biggest smile on my mother’s face, as I was able to surprise her with tickets to see
CON FUNK SHUN! The accommodations were perfect. The food was delicious. The hospitality made us feel so welcomed, as Veterans we were all treated as “Special Guests!”
We boarded the Love Train & partied to the sounds of these musical icons! I smiled nonstop, as my mother reminisced, and jammed to her favorite Con Funk Shun songs. I even got to dance with her to one of my father’s favorite songs, “Straight From The Heart!” I’m sure he was smiling down from heaven. This was truly a priceless moment, shared with a timeless musical treasure, and my amazing mom! It was electrifying! The energy was so high, strangers became friends, and gave high-fives throughout the night! One of the original members, Dr. Felton C. Pilate and his beautiful bride blessed us with their presence at the end of the show. He even helped me operate my iPhone! l laughed and talked story with the drummer, Arron Green and Professor Kurt Clayton, the band’s Music Director, and Keyboardist. All the musicians were beyond talented, humble, fun, and very personable!

Again, big mahalos to everyone at Blue Note!
